Finding the right person for the job – it’s quite a job.
No matter how long job interviews have been used to recruit people, there are still some rather unusual interesting approaches to hiring. It seems that plenty of daft job interview questions are still being asked. Here are three of the silliest ones:
1. When you go on holiday, when do you pack your case?
This is one of those trick questions that seems very simple on the surface, but is designed to reveal some great truth about you. In this case, how far ahead you prepare, what sort of organiser you are and maybe just how important holidays are to you.
2. What would I find in your fridge right now?
Another trick question (most of them are), it would be tempting to answer this one in a silly way, but again, how you answer can be more than a little revealing. It’s best to find the middle ground in your answer – somewhere between “The remains of last week’s takeaway” and a “A full five course Cordon Bleu banquet cooked by me”.
3. How would you explain a database in three sentences to your eight year old nephew?
Tough. Unless you explain that your eight year old nephew is in fact a genius and will understand your garbled explanation anyway.
