Area Manager, Leading Food Retailer

£26,000 to £30,000 basic salary plus car and excellent benefits (including pension, health insurance, profit share)

We’re looking for an Area Manager to work in the South East region for one of the UK’s leading and most well known food-to-go retailers.

This role will cover a minimum of 9 shops along the M4 corridor, each employing approximately 10 people. You must have previous experience within a food-to-go retailer (such as Subway, Costa Coffee, Pret A Manger, McDonalds, etc) – please do not apply if you have not as your application will not be considered.

You will be primarily responsible for driving retail performance of the shops in your area, by effectively managing the various Shop Management teams in order to maximise profitability, efficiency and customer service.

In addition you will develop and implement individual shop operation plans, regularly reviewing shop performance with individual shop managers to ensure agreed levels of sales growth. You’ll also be responsible for promoting brand excellence across shop management teams driving forward initiatives to improve standards. In fact, you’ll act as a brand champion across the shop network.

You’ll be responsible for recruiting, managing, motivating and developing shop management teams, and you will have a direct responsibility for planning and controlling shop manning rotas in line with agreed costs and budgets. With that in mind, you’ll monitor key cost areas and take relevant action to challenge any variances that may arise.

We’re looking for someone who has previously operated at Area Manager level (or in a Retail Manager position in a larger unit) within a challenging sales role for a retailer. You will possess excellent communication, rapport building and organisational skills. We need someone who is an experienced and decisive manager, capable of making confident, important decisions and used to motivating and getting results through a team.

It is absolutely essential that you possess prior retail experience, good IT skills and a food hygiene certificate (please indicate on your CV whether or not you possess one).
