Title: 1st Line IT Support Engineer
Salary: £18,000 to £20,000
My client is an established IT Services company based in the West Midlands. Offering a full range of services to customers including IT Support, Hosting, Outsourced IT, Bespoke Networks and Backup/Disaster Recovery, they have a number of clients not only in the UK but also in Europe and the US. In an ongoing search for talent that they can develop and offer a career to, they are looking to recruit a new 1st Line IT Support Engineer to join their technical support team.
You will be responsible for supporting clients across the UK and Europe both on the telephone and using remote services/other software monitoring tools. You will troubleshoot on general hardware, software and network issues whilst completing all associated documentation. You will be supporting general Microsoft applications including Windows and Exchange as well as learning to support virtualised servers and services.
As a 1st Line IT Support Engineer, you will have at least one to two years’ experience in an IT team or department, supporting either customers or colleagues with general software or hardware issues. You will be experienced in supporting Microsoft Windows 2003 to Windows 2008. You will also have experience of supporting Exchange 2003 and/or Exchange 2010. A good general knowledge of switches and routers (configuration at layer2 and layer3). Good experience of Firewalls will be helpful in the role. Although not essential, it would be beneficial if you had either Microsoft, Cisco or VMWare accreditation. Experience in supporting VMWare would also be considered advantageous.
The role is based at the company’s Head Office and is easily commutable from Walsall, Streetly, Aldridge, Birmingham, Brownhills, Sutton Coldfield and Four Oaks.
You will already be working as a 1st Line Support Engineer, 2nd Line Support Engineer, IT Helpdesk Analyst or Service Desk Analyst.
