We are currently looking for an individual with a social care background to take up an Activities Coordinator post in a residential nursing home in Abingdon, Oxfordshire. They offer an excellent benefits package which includes; £8.89 per hour, relevant training, the opportunity to do qualifications, contributory pension scheme and discounted health cover. You’ll be responsible for the planning and delivering a suitable programme of activity and entertainment for people who have a physical disability.

The Role
– Using a person centred approach to identify and organise suitable programmes of recreational activity and entertainment for individuals with physical disabilities who reside in the residential nursing home
– These activities and events will take place both within the home and outside in the community and will be designed to enhance the individual’s daily living
– You’ll work alongside colleagues liaising with outside agencies involved in leisure, recreation voluntary organisations and community linked projects when planning programmes of social support and holidays etc
– You’ll ensure that risk assessments are undertaken prior to any activity taking place to ensure the safety of residents and staff
– You’ll communicate effectively with residents to gain an understanding of their wishes and needs, to ensure that the programme is person centred
– You’ll be managing the activities budget

This post is working 30 hours a week, Monday – Friday, there will need to flexibility within the rotas dependent on the needs of the people who use the services.

The Successful Candidate
The Activities Coordinator will be an enthusiastic and energetic team member who can motivate people who use their service to maximise their potential
– You’ll need experience of working within a social care setting – ideally a residential home or nursing home, and will be able to demonstrate a knowledge of person centred planning
– It is desirable that you have worked as an Activities coordinator in a care home previously, planning and running a programme of activities, and supporting people to attend community based facilities.
– You’ll be flexible and willing to work outside of work hours on occasion, and to undertake required training including MIDAS training
– You’ll be competant in the use of Microsft Outlook and Work
– You’ll be managing the activities budget

This post would suit somebody who has previously worked as an Activities Coordinator, Team Leader in social care, Support Worker or Care Worker – it is essential that you have a background in social care and it is preferred that you are a driver with your own vehicle.
