Job Title: Applications Developer

Duration: Contract

Location: Aberdeen

Day Rate: £300 – £400

The Role

Currently recruiting an Applications Developer to work within a Global IT Application Services team based in Aberdeen. Reporting directly to the Development Manager, the Developer will participate in software development tasks, as well as providing software support for the service area, complying with agreed standards and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote and support Global IT throughout the business community
  • Support Legacy systems and old applications
  • Work within Global IT, exhibiting a positive and proactive attitude
  • Work within the Application Technical Services team structure
  • Carry out software support to agreed and predefined specifications, timescales and estimates
  • Carry out program testing in accordance with agreed test plans
  • Provide support for applications in accordance with Service Level Agreements
  • Assist in ensuring systems are properly documented
  • Comply with standards and procedures

Technical Skills Required

  • Competent in the following core programming languages: Visual Basic 6, Oracle SQL, Classic ASP
  • Desirable to have skills in Visual Basic 3, Oracle Forms and Reports, SSRS reports
  • Familiar of estimating, planning, risk analysis and control of their own work
  • Competent in unit testing, familiar in system testing and awareness of running a User Acceptance test
  • Awareness of creating, amending and populating both Oracle and SQL-Server databases
