We are seeking to appoint an experienced Associate to join and ultimately lead the civils division of a privately owned, leading consulting engineers practice.
Over the last 30 years they have built up an enviable reputation and can count on a range of clients from main contractor to independent developer.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Civil Engineer who is looking to progress their career into a prominent position in the practice’s hierarchy and thus offers a great overall package including:
A salary of circa £55k – – Annual Profit Share
Pension – Healthcare – Subsidised Gym Membership
As befits a role of this nature your key tasks will include:
- Undertaking technical and feasibility studies and site appraisals and develop detailed designs from this – often to tight deadlines and budgets
- Close liaison with clients and their professional teams
- Assessing the potential risks of specific projects, as well as undertake risk management;
- Supervising the tendering procedures and put together proposals;
- Overseeing the work of junior staff including mentoring civil engineers throughout their chartership process;
- Working with the Partners to manage team workload and deadlines
The candidate will ideally be someone who has 6 years+ experience within a Civil Engineering design role with the majority of this experience having been gained from practice rather than main contractor. They will have the experience and ability to lead a team and, ultimately, a division.
Alternatively a graduate with 3 years’ experience with a specific focus on roads or drainage would be considered who has the potential to progress quickly to the Team Leader role.
Either way, they will all be able to demonstrate a detailed working knowledge of specific highways and drainage procedures including Section 278 and 38 – Highway Design & Section 104, 106 and 185 – Drainage Design and design of civil engineering structures.
From a qualification standpoint they must have a Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering (or similar) and either be a Chartered Engineer (MICE) or very close to achieving it – a little more flexibility in this may be shown to the more ‘junior’ candidate.
If you are a Civil Engineer and have spent time in practice I would like to hear from you.
