We’re looking for an experienced Care Assistant / Carer to take up a role as an Overnight Community Support Worker. You’ll be supporting people in their own homes who have just been discharged from hospital and need care, support or observation during the night (8pm-8m 3 times a week). This is an interesting and varied role that involves care work, assessing, liaising with hospital teams and supporting people who need your help. You’ll be working for a great company who treat their staff well, offer full time contracted hours, a salary of £19,500 (£9.74ph), 30p mileage, free dbs, paid induction and a stable rolling rota. This post is car driver essential.
The Overnight Care Worker role
Working nights from 8pm – 8am you’ll be supporting clients who have recently been discharged from hospital in their own homes in Northamptonshire. Typically you’ll spend your whole shift in one place, supporting one individual.
Your client may need overnight observation after a medical procedure such as a cataract operation, may need medication prompts or assistance in the night.
You’ll assist clients with personal care, meal preparation and light domestic tasks.
You’ll carry out assessments and care plans
You’ll provide a friendly face and companionship to vulnerable adults.
Hours of Work – You’ll have a 6 week rolling rota and will so always know in advance the days you’ll be working and your days off. You’ll work 3 days on 3 days off, 8pm – 8am.
Due to the nature of the work, visits may be planned at short notice and may change throughout the day, so you’ll need to be flexible and able to cope with the demands of a changings services.
- We’re looking for experienced care assistants / care workers, ideally with a domiciliary care or live-in care background.
- It’s ESSENTIAL that you are a driver with your own vehicle.
- You’ll be able to work nights and to a rota that includes some weekends.
- You’ll hold Level 2 standard Diploma or NVQ and/or equivalent nursing qualification
- Sound understanding of good care principles
- Ability to display empathy and warmth
- Excellent communication skills
