Position: Contract Solutions Architect (Software)
Location: Birmingham, West Midlands
Rate: £500 to £550 per day
Duration: 3 months (Likely extensions)
We are looking for an immediately available Solutions Architect with strong experience in the full systems development lifecycle to work on a critical project for a FTSE 250 company based in Birmingham
The Role
You will be responsible for gathering technical requirements, working with Business analysts to develop use cases, drafting technical specifications, and proposing technical solutions for an on board ticketing system and software, building the solution from the ground up using both external suppliers and internal resource.
There will be a great deal of interface work involved and you will work with a variety of web technologies, languages and frameworks including , (Java, JSP, SQL, HTML, XML) as well as web service technologies (SOAP, REST).
You will analyse business processes, needs and strategies to document and validate required functionality and rationalise functionality with appropriate technology solutions.
Collaborating with the in house developers, third party suppliers and subject matter experts you will establish technical vision and draft functional & technical specifications while operating as a key liaison between the business functions, technology teams, test and support teams.
You will proactively communicate and collaborate with external and internal customers or suppliers to analyse information needs and functional requirements and deliver various documents required throughout the implementation process
You will lead technical discussions to gain insight into business processes and existing solutions while collaborating with business analysts and support in the development of user stories/use cases and product backlog
Key Experience Required
You will be an experienced software and systems Solutions Architect or Senior Technical Business Analyst with knowledge of web technologies, languages and frameworks such as Java, JSP, SQL, HTML, XML
Knowledge of web service technologies (SOAP, REST) would also be very useful.
You will need to have experience in all phases of a SDLC (Systems Development Lifecycle) methodology
Any experience in a service orientated architecture environment would be preferred as would be a good understanding of relational database design principles.
The company is based within 10 minutes’ walk of New Street Station in Birmingham and the contract will be for an initial three months with a strong possibility of extensions.
