Estimator – Civil Engineering
C.£30,000-£40,000 plus car,,bonus,pension
This specialty civil engineering sub-contractor has an opening for an Estimator.
Reporting directly to the Commercial Director, you will produce priced quotations for both Hydro Demolition and Drainage and Civils clients
As an Estimator, you duties will involve:
Inspecting tender documentation and requirements. Identifying material and subcontract items to have enquiries sent out. Monitor enquiry process and dates for quote returns.
Arranging site inspections. Taking account of tender pricing. Assessing individual rates and prices.Ammending, creating new or inserting from material and subcontract quotes.
Discuss construction sequence of project with Contracts/Site Managers to enable a proposed construction period to be determined.
Complete build-ups with required company pricing sheets taking account of all known conditions and requirements.
Produce tender specific quotation offer to be sent to the client and log information on company database.
Provide any costs and variation prices while contracts are ongoing keeping the accounts department up to date for invoicing.
Tender Follow up:
Contact all clients to receive feedback on submitted quotations. Amend existing quotations,update the company tender log and inform directors of competitor activity.
Negotiate quotations through to a desired successful award of contract.Attend Pre-start meeting when required.
Collate tender information and build-ups. Meet with contracts department and explain project and build-ups and handover all information required.
Update suppliers list to keep prices competitive and supplier and sub contactor base lean. Organisation and attendance of meetings required both contractually and internally.
Recording existing site conditions which will require taking photographs and detailing a written account of the surveys for consideration when preparing and adjudicating
each tender.Take responsibility for ensuring the tender is delivered to the appropriate place on time.
In order to be considered for this exciting role you must have experience of estimating within a civil engineering construction environment.
It would be advantageous if you have worked within the civil engineering side – including road, land and site development.
You must have a general knowledge of building, material components, building regulations, estimating (including taking-off) and H&S.
You will also have the ability to calculate mathematical extensions, read and understand engineering drawings, purchase orders, contracts, cost coding systems.
You will have a driving license
Established 12 years ago this civil engineering specialist subcontractor work across the UK on large and small projects nationwide ranging from £500 to £600,000 in value.
They offer a range of Hydro-demolition services as well as Spray Concrete and Ground-works for commercial clients.
It is likely candidates will be commutable to Wigan, St Helens, Ashton-in-Makerfield, Leigh, Warrington and Lancashire
