I am recruiting on behalf of a leading service provider as they have the requirement for a Senior Estimator to work from their site in Newmarket. This is a full time, permanent position and on offer is a competitive salary of up to £45000, plus car, healthcare and pension.
Reporting to the Managing Director, this role is part of a dynamic and forward looking commercial pricing team. The role will be supporting strategic work winning opportunities primarily within the private sector. An experienced mechanical estimator with a good knowledge of maintenance specifications is required. The candidate will already have a proven ability to build complex cost models in MS Excel and be able to demonstrate this.
To take the lead in preparing the pricing element of HVAC maintenance and TFM tenders and to assist other estimators when required on larger tenders
With the Bid Manager, developing the tender strategy and managing the financial submission
Contributing to risk assessment and ensuring all risks are included within the tender
Assuring accuracy, competitiveness and compliance of tenders
Contributing to the submission document and Contract Documentation
Ensuring all risks are recorded and accounted for within the tender
Supporting the Bid Manager in bid negotiations
Typically manages cost centre budget (first line budgetary accountability
Identifies ways to reduce cost and improve service
Manages variable costs (e.g. overtime and agency costs)
Accountable for specific areas of responsibility and deliverables and manages the associated risks
Delivers activities to support operational objectives for their specific contract, project or specialism
Inputs to planning activities with horizons of typically 6 months to one year
Operates within agreed operational and/or management guidelines
Interacts with client or users around specific work efforts and deliverables
Supports delivery of Health and Safety policy and standards
Manages the activities of others to meet deadlines and quality standards taking account of impact outside area of responsibility
Focus of work is predominantly against defined targets but performs a range of tasks from complex to straightforward.
Must have a thorough working knowledge and experience within the HVAC sector through significant job experience & training
Experience of supporting a business contract and/or providing support to a professional function
Preferably (but not essential) to have extensive business experience and/or be a fully qualified professional
