Financial Controller – Manufacturing sector
circa £45k plus benefits
I am looking or an experienced Finance Manager / Controller to join a well-established yet dynamic, fast paced manufacturer of giftware and party products.
In simple terms what is required is someone who not only understands the numbers but can understand their implications on the commercial aspect of the business and act accordingly – I am not after someone who produces the management accounts and just hands them on!!
You will of course be expected to lead a team covering both ledgers, credit control, payroll and admin but ultimately you will be judged on your ability to manage the whole function not on your ability to delegate to and manage a team of people.
As with all manufacturing business cash is king. You will need to understand this mantra and set your objectives accordingly. It goes without saying the role will have responsibility for bank rec, debtor management, budgeting, forecasting, supplier management and tax.
The successful candidate will need to have spent time in a role where you have responsibility for the financial management of a business – this can be at controller or manager level as titles aren’t what is important here.
What is important is that you have experience of the manufacturing sector ideally including an overseas manufacturing sector.
Reporting to the FD you will ultimately judged on whether you can do that job or not so you must demonstrate the right levels o drive and determination to make this happen.
