Position: Infrastructure Architect
Location: Birmingham, West Midlands
Salary: £52,000 plus £5,700 Car Allowance plus 10% Bonus plus Benefits
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Infrastructure Architect to join an International FTSE 250 company based in Birmingham close to New Street and Moor Street Stations.
The company has recently had two £10m project signed off for two of their divisions giving you the opportunity to have a major influence on two Greenfield projects using cloud technologies.
You will be responsible for ensuring that all infrastructure projects delivered are aligned with the IT Strategy and maintain the IT Roadmap. You will report to and support the CTO in delivering technical advice through direct liaison with third Parties and Vendors along with the creation of technical/topology diagrams and documents to support all initiatives.
You will be directly responsible for the design and delivery of all infrastructure projects encompassing, Data Centre, Servers, Operating Systems, Storage, Networking, Security, Non-BAU Desktop, E-commerce and Google.
You will establish and maintain relationships with key technology partners to deliver cost effective, best practice solutions for the infrastructure elements of key projects. This may also involve working with Cloud providers such as MS Azure and Amazon AWS etc. to provide cloud based infrastructure solutions.
You will create business cases with supporting CAPEX and OPEX impacts and clearly articulate risks and benefits in business language.
Key Experience Required
You will be an experienced Infrastructure Architect with an awareness of Service Orientated Architecture who is looking to work on major green field projects utilising the latest technologies.
You will need to have considerable experience of delivering infrastructure projects within a complex business environment and be able to demonstrate how you have articulated risks and benefits in business language on previous project implementations.
You will also need to have a background in designing/implementing and/or supporting the infrastructure platform for commercial websites.
You will be expected to have technical knowledge of some of the following:
- VMWare vSphere 5.5 and above platforms
- Microsoft Windows Server 2003-2012
- Redhat Linux
- Cisco Networking, both in physical and virtual arenas
- Familiar with line of business applications and integration with SQL and Oracle databases.
- Good understanding of Storage solutions such as EMC & NetApp SAN
We would also expect you to have a strong awareness of security in a complex IT environment.
The role will mainly be based in their Birmingham office however there will be regular trips to London as part of the role.
