This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Java Development Team Lead to build and manage a new Development team for the rail division of a FTSE 250 London based company on a major greenfield project utilising state of the art Azure PaaS to deliver a customer experience driven digital Omni-Channel ticketing and retail platform.
The company are committed to delivering an ambitious digital channel shift strategy over the next two years as part of their agreement with the Department for Transport utilising Agile/Kanban methodologies.
The Omni-Channel ticketing and retail platform is a first for a train operating company with a committed technology investment of over £6million.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and innovative individual who enjoys a challenge and who looks for opportunities to make best use of technology in problem solving.
You will be tasked with building, managing and developing a small team of highly experienced Java developers to work on a major industry first project.
You will provide technical guidance and leadership to the development team, exhibiting exemplary technical and interpersonal skills, driving the team to deliver software to multiple platforms.
You will develop high quality solutions using latest technologies and providing software development expertise. You will be building versatile, responsive, public facing applications, websites and API’s in line with business requirements.
You will be expected to undertake peer code reviews manage and motivate a team of Java developers and provide technical analysis and design where required.

This is an opportunity for the right individual to lead an exciting team and influence the design and development of major solutions with your ideas.
Key Experience Required
It is likely that you will have come from a Java development background before moving into a managerial or team leader position so you will still have a good understanding of Java and will be able to guide and influence the team.
You should have good knowledge of design patterns, continuous integration, agile working and be able to coach less experienced team members.
You must also be able to work with business stakeholders and be confident in representing the department out to the wider business and with third party providers.
Good decision making, is a must, with the ability to provide pragmatic solutions when required, but strong enough to hold out for the correct strategic solutions in the main part.
The successful candidate will be expected to take an active part in the wider business, presenting technical innovations and recommendations to the Technical Design Board.
The job offers the capability for you to shape and mould the technical deliveries and the tools employed to achieve them.
