Title: Linux Systems Administrator
Salary: £30,000 to £35,000 + Benefits (Inc Bonus & Pension)
My client is the holdings group for a number of established companies and brands within a specific vertical market in the UK. The group includes a well-known franchise business, retail business and wholesale business. Within the group are two large call centre environments and a number of operational departments which are supported by the IT teams. An opportunity has arisen to join this exciting business as the Head of IT, managing the combined IT services that support the group.
You will take responsibility for the company’s various Linux platforms which host a number of e-commerce and trading systems. You will be responsible for the 24/7-365 operation, implementation and solution design. The organisation uses virtualisation so it is preferable that you have some relevant experience, although the company will arrange training where necessary. You will join an established team that manages and maintains the company’s Wintel / Linux Servers, WAN / LAN infrastructure, telephony, storage as well as both virtualised and physical infrastructure.
You will be from a Systems Administration background either having worked in a full Linux environment or worked in a Windows environment having exposure to open source tools including Linux and Apache. Joining an established and competent team, you will take ownership of the Linux based e-commerce sites, ensuring it is configured and operating optimally. The Linux platform sits within a VMWare environment so it is preferred that you have experience of virtualisation and in particular VMWare, although this not essential and training can be given where necessary. You will prioritise, troubleshoot and fix system faults both autonomously and as part of a team. Weekend work is required so please do not apply if you are unable to work weekends, days off will be given in the lieu.
The role is based at the company’s Head Office and is easily commutable from Liverpool, St Helens, Warrington, Wrexham, Northwich and Chester.
You will already be working as a Linux Administrator, Lead Linux Administrator, Unix Administrator, Lead UNIX Administrator, Systems Administrator or Infrastructure Engineer.
