Contracts Manager / Project Manager
Home Based – Ideally in the Midlands
Salary: circa £40k plus benefits.
I am looking for an experienced Contracts Manager to join a well-established, successful and profitable manufacturer of structural designed steel products for the construction industry.
They have a reputation for providing the highest quality product matched only by the level of service they deliver. This key role as part of their management team gives you specific responsibility for ensuring the service levels remain that way.
You can expect to manage up to 30 projects at any one time – mainly in the Midlands and Central region. You will be tasked with the effective management of the entire process from initial meeting with the main contractor through design and installation to final account.
You will find the role has aspects that require you to be very ’hands on’ – site surveys, method statements, tool box talks, site visits etc. However there is also a strategic element to the role covering issues such as manpower planning (usually involving subcontracted fitters), complete project management, progress reviews with the main contractor and a general involvement in the operational side of the business.
Ideally the successful candidate will have experience of all these tasks gained within a project management / contracts management function within the structural steel sector.
As an absolute minimum though you must have the multi-site management experience and a proven track record of bringing construction projects in on time and at least on budget, if not under it.
It is vital that you understand how to control and develop relationships both with the main contractor and subcontractor alike whilst understanding that the profitability of your employer remains your paramount concern.
If you meet at least the minimum criteria and are a looking for a role that provides a high degree of autonomy and responsibility yet still gives you a ‘team’ feel then I would encourage you to apply.
This role may be suitable for you if you have a background in any of the following: Project Manager, Contracts Manager, Site Manager, Multi Site Manager, Regional Manager, Commercial Manager, Works Manager, Estimator, Installation Manager, Operations Manager, Senior Projects Manager or Commercial Operations Manager
