Contracts Manager – Fit Out sector
circa £35k + car + benefits

I am looking for an experienced Contracts Manager / Project Manager to join one of the leading players in the fit out / refit market specialising in the leisure retail sector.

The Role
You can expect to manage around 25 projects at any one time – mainly in the Midlands and North but extending to other locations across the UK. You will be tasked with the effective management of the entire process from initial meeting with the main contractor through design and installation to final account.

You will find the role has aspects that require you to be very ’hands on’ – site surveys, method statements, tool box talks, site visits etc. However there is also a strategic element to the role covering issues such as manpower planning (usually involving subcontracted fitters), complete project management, progress reviews with the main contractor and a general involvement in the operational side of the business.

Typical projects range in value from £50k to £2m and tend to be in the restaurant / pub / theme park / tourist attraction areas.

The Candidate
Ideally the successful Contracts Manager will have experience of all these tasks gained within a project management / contracts management function within the building industry.

As an absolute minimum though you must have the multi-site management experience and a proven track record of bringing construction projects in on time and at least on budget, if not under it.

It is vital that you understand how to control and develop relationships both with the main contractor and subcontractor alike whilst understanding that the profitability of your employer remains your paramount concern.
