Care Perspectives is an integrated therapeutic residential care home group for children between 8 and 18 years with a wide range of complex needs, including; Mental Health, Learning Disabilities, Autism, Attachment difficulties and those who present with associated challenging needs.

This role will be based within a new residential service based in Great Barr, in Birmingham. The service has the capacity to support up to 4 children and young people with various needs. Unlike the other services within the Care Group, this service will focus more on supporting children and young people with complex learning disabilities, Autism, ASD, potential behaviours that challenge and complex care needs. Candidates should have experience of supporting individuals with similar needs and be able to demonstrate a passion for working with this client group. They should have the ability build a rapport with children and young people via their prefer method of communication, work in a tailored and child focused way and, be willing to participate and encourage children and young people to engage in meaningful activities.

Residential Care Workers will work a one shift on two shifts off, rota-based shift pattern, working 7.30am- 10.30pm. There will also be the opportunity to work over-time shifts and some sleep ins. The organisation is committed to providing bespoke therapeutic support to young people with complex mental health, associated learning difficulties and/or challenging behaviours. They have invested heavily in-house clinical support to equip the team with the tools needed to make a difference to their young people they support.

The salary will be between £18-20k per annum, dependant on experience.

Residential Care Workers, should be able to work flexibly to suit the needs of the service and the children and young people they support.

As a Residential Care Worker, you will;

  • Deliver the highest standard of care to the children/young people in your care
  • Ensure the young people’s physical and psychological welfare is well looked after.
  • Tend to any household duties that may need completing
  • Be prepared to accompany CAYP on holidays and activities
  • To be committed to furthering your professional development through training and learning opportunities
  • To be flexible in your approach to meet the needs of the CAYP and service overall
  • To familiarise yourself with Policy and Procedure and endeavour to ensure that these are embedded within your work practices
  • To safeguard and CAYP in your care and report any concerns that you may have.

To qualify for the Support Worker role, you will need;

  • Experience within children’s residential (Essential)
  • Experience of supporting wither adults or children with mental health needs, complex care needs, ASD or profound learning disabilities (Essential)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A ‘can do’ attitude with motivation to achieve excellence
  • Experience of communicating via alternative methods of communication e.g. MAKATON or PECs (Desirable)
  • Experience or training in physical intervention e.g. MAPA (Desirable)
  • An NVQ / QCF Level 3 (Children’s & Young People) (Essential)
  • A UK driving licence (Desirable)
  • Be able to work flexibly to suit the needs of the service
