Our client is an established process technology company in oil, gas, and petrochemical sector.
The Metallurgist reports to the Company Metallurgist within Design Engineering and provides materials expertise to all departments.
As a Metallurgist you will perform the following duties:
You will be responsible for the selection of cost effective materials (metallic and Non-metallic) of construction for all the processes.
You will ensure that the materials specified meet the minimum requirements appropriate for the service conditions considering the plant location and ambient conditions, equipment and component reliability, local construction costs, material availability (locally and globally), scale of the plant, and the nature of the fluids.
You will review and advise on manufacturing procedures including material production, welding and subsequent treatments, fabrication and NDT techniques. The Metallurgist will provide materials specifications for proprietary equipment and materials when required to do so.
You will also responsible for all aspects of insulation, cladding and coatings and undertake materials failure investigations or material testing programmes in a timely and cost effective manner wherever and whenever necessary.
You will provide and guidance on any materials related issue to all members of staff as and when requested.
You will provide home office support to commissioning teams on all materials related queries, potential clients as and when the need or opportunity arises.
-You must have a degree or equivalent in Metallurgy or Materials.
-You will be flexible and be able to travel abroad.
-You will have experience in design engineering, manufacturing procedures, material production, welding and fabrication.
Our client is established UK Company that provides licences to operate advanced process technologies related to the manufacture of oil and gas, petrochemicals, commodity chemicals, fine chemicals and pharmaceuticals.
They also have a technology centre where they undertake process development in order to support the company’s world-class technology portfolio. The Technology Centre also collaborates with other companies to develop processes and will partner those companies to commercialise the results or undertake custom development of client’s processes.
The role may be suitable if you have a background as an experienced Metallurgist, Senior Metallurgist or Materials Scientist.
It is likely candidates will be commutable London, Paddington, Wembley, Edgware and Bromley, London.
