Stores & Service Assistant
Based in Peterborough
Salary: £18,500 – £20,000 dependent on experience
A successful and well-established distributor of air compressors is currently looking to recruit a Stores Assistant at their Peterborough HQ. This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious junior administrator to join a forward-thinking and highly specialised business, as well as enjoy a well organised and friendly working environment.
Reporting to the Operations Director, you would play a key role helping ensure the efficient operation of the Stores & Service Department. Key tasks will include…
o Raising and process purchase orders for goods and materials, ensuring prompt delivery and no discrepancies
o Coordinating customer service, providing product information, preparing quotations
o Arranging installation, maintenance, hire and repair of equipment
o Preparing lists of parts required for each job, working closely with the Stores team
o Maintenance of customer contracts, maintain computerised information systems
o Responding to and dealing with customer communication by email and telephone
You will be expected to maintain high standards of health and safety, hygiene and security, developing a clear understanding of the company’s policies and vision, and how the warehouse contributes to these.
Previous experience working within a Service dept would be preferred, however most important is the ability to multi-task as well as engage with customers in a fast-paced environment. A familiarity with order processing, stock control and warehousing would be ideal, as will strong commercial awareness and a customer-focused mindset. You will be a flexible and reliable individual with a pro-active approach to carrying out work activities.
You must have a good general education; have experience of working with Microsoft packages, be able to follow written and verbal instructions, with excellent communication skills. You should be able to work under pressure to meet deadlines and have a methodical and organised approach to work, both individually and as part of a team.
