Unique opportunity for an enthusiastic Employment Support Worker

Full Time/Part Time, Permanent Basis

We are currently looking to recruit a friendly and committed individual, to offer support on a full-time permanent basis, to a young professional in the workplace. Our client has a diagnosis of Cerebral Palsy and Epilepsy hence, knowledge of these long-term medical conditions is preferable.

Our client, is currently employed in a PA role within a Health Care setting. She requires an experienced Employment Support Worker, to assist her in her role, from 4th October 2021.

The role will be based 2 days a week (maximum), working in an office environment within Birmingham City Centre and, 3 days a week working from home providing virtual support and assistance. The hours are 9am- 5pm, Monday to Friday. On the days that our client requires assistance with transport, you will be required to start slightly earlier to ensure her arrival on time to the office.

On the two office based days, our client will require her Support Worker to transport her to and from her home in the Wednesbury area and, the city centre based office. Hence, it is essential that candidates have a full- clean UK driving licence.

When office based, duties will include, supporting our client to mobilise around the office (as she is a wheelchair user), using various office equipment and general assistance with her day to day role.

When working from home, duties will include, attending and supporting during (Microsoft Teams) meetings, note taking, assisting with the use of assisted technology software (Dragon) by ensuring correct grammar. In addition to, reading information/documents and relaying this to our client, to ensure her understanding.

Part of the duties associated with this role, will include advocating on behalf of our client, as a ‘named person’, with ongoing ‘Access to Work’ communication, with data protection and GDPR legislation in mind.

A Successful Candidate will:

  • Have a full/ clean UK driving licence and be willing to support our client with transportation to and from work. In addition to ad hoc transportation outside of working hours.
  • Have access to a laptop and internet connection, to allow for virtual working from home and, be competent in using Microsoft Teams and Microsoft office programmes.
  • Will be able to demonstrate a background or experience in an Administration- based role
  • Will have a positive attitude towards disability and champion inclusion for individuals with disabilities or additional needs
  • Will have experience of supporting people with disabilities within either a professional or personal capacity/ or knowledge of various disabilities.
  • Will have a friendly and approachable persona
  • Will be willing to commit to forming a professional working relationship with our client, to ensure consistency for her support needs.
  • Will be patient, understanding and able to adapt in a range of situations.

– A very competitive hourly rate of £20.00 per hour (not including half hour lunch breaks)
