Technical Sales Engineer

My client is a key facilities and test equipment supplier, founded in the 90’s they provideelectronic engineering services to the automotive and aerospace industriesand due to natural growth, they are recruiting for a Technical Sales Engineer to join their growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Sales Engineer who has a solid electronic engineering or technical background with an interest in a move in to sales or who is already an established Technical Sales Engineer

The Role

The Technical Sales Engineer will be responsible for the proactive generation of sales and new business development opportunities. In addition they will be responsible for

  • Providing pre-sales product information and education, assist with preparation and timely delivery of quotations
  • Generating detailed visit reports, project feedback and updating the sales database
  • Close liaison with Project and Support Teams to ensure customer satisfaction

The position requires travel to customer sites throughout the UK and EU, with possibly some occasional international travel

The Candidate

You will be able to work without having to be heavily supervised, but can be relied upon
producing quality work in a dynamic environment. Self-motivation, discipline, quick thinking
and strong problem solving skills are important, as is the tenacity to stick with and resolve
a problem. Much of the work is engineering or automotive focused, therefore a good knowledge
and interest in motor vehicles and the motor industry would also be of benefit. Good general
personal presentation and communication is essential


  • Qualified to HNC or equivalent in engineering or similar discipline
  • 4+ years relevant experience with a knowledge of Electronics, PC/PLC Control Systems
  • The tenacity and determination to succeed
  • Able to increase business by developing strong relationships with existing and new customers
  • Good communication skills and IT literate
  • A high degree of Initiative, resourcefulness & problem-solving skills
  • Highly organised, able to arrange own customer visits and be pro-active
  • Full UK Driving License
