This isn't a role for someone who simply keeps a factory ticking over.

We're looking for an experienced General Manager / Plant Director / Senior Operations Leader who knows how to take ownership of an engineering operation, lead from the front and make it perform.

You'll take full responsibility for a well-established manufacturing site in Walsall, leading a team of circa 50 and owning the operation from P&L and people through to safety, quality, delivery and continuous improvement.

The business supplies engineered industrial products into demanding sectors including automotive, aerospace and general manufacturing. It needs a leader who is equally comfortable on the shop floor, around the management table and in front of senior stakeholders.

THE ROLE

You'll have genuine ownership of the site, including:

  • Full P&L and operational responsibility
  • Leadership and development of the site team
  • Driving safety, quality, delivery, cost and productivity
  • Improving operational performance through Lean / continuous improvement
  • Building stronger processes, accountability and KPI discipline
  • Identifying opportunities around capacity, efficiency, waste and cost
  • Working cross-functionally across engineering, production, quality and supply chain
  • Creating a culture where people take ownership and performance improves

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

The important bit.

We need an established senior manufacturing leader from a heavy engineering or technically demanding manufacturing environment.

You'll ideally already be operating as a:

General Manager | Plant Manager | Plant Director | Operations Director | Head of Operations

You must bring:

  • Significant senior operational leadership within heavy engineering / industrial manufacturing
  • Experience leading a complete manufacturing or engineering operation
  • P&L / budget accountability
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and operational KPIs
  • A demonstrable record of improving productivity, cost, quality, delivery and safety
  • Strong Lean / CI / operational excellence credentials
  • The ability to lead managers as well as shop-floor teams
  • An Engineering or relevant technical degree

Experience within automotive, aerospace, metals, machining, fabrication, engineered components or similarly demanding manufacturing would be particularly relevant.

WHY CONSIDER IT?

This is a proper operational leadership role.

You'll have the autonomy to shape the site, develop the team and make tangible improvements to the performance of the business.

It should appeal to someone who enjoys being close enough to operations to understand what's really happening, but senior enough to change it.

Salary: up to £80,000 + package
Location: Walsall, West Midlands

If you've built your career leading engineering and manufacturing operations and you're ready to take full ownership of a site, we'd like to hear from you.

Technical Sales Manager
You'll take technical problems our customers can't solve themselves and turn them into bespoke engineered solutions worth tens of thousands of pounds.

We design and manufacture custom industrial equipment for manufacturing and heavy industry customers across the UK. Every project is different, every solution is engineered from scratch, and you'll own the entire sales process from first conversation to signed order.

What you'll earn:
• £60,000 basic salary
• £80k OTE
• Company car
• Hybrid working (typically three days per week at our Midlands office, the rest from home or on customer sites)

What you'll do:
• Manage the full sales cycle from initial enquiry through to order
• Visit customer sites to understand their application and technical requirements
• Work with our design, engineering and estimating teams to develop commercially viable solutions
• Develop existing customer relationships and convert an established pipeline of opportunities
• Generate new business and open doors with manufacturing and industrial prospects
• Handle deals that range from quick-turnaround projects to longer, consultative technical sales

Deal size and complexity vary. Some opportunities move quickly; others need a more considered, partnership approach.

What we're looking for:

Essential:
• Proven technical sales experience selling bespoke, engineered or application-led solutions (not catalogue products)
• A background selling into manufacturing or industrial customers
• Comfortable visiting sites, diagnosing customer problems and collaborating with technical colleagues to design and cost a solution
• Commercially sharp and confident generating new business, not just managing existing accounts
• Able to commute to our Midlands office around three days per week

Nice to have:
• Experience in fabrication, material handling, industrial equipment, racking and storage systems, capital equipment or similar engineered products (but we care more about how you sell than an exact product match)

About us:
We're an established UK engineering business with a strong pipeline already in place. You'll inherit live opportunities from day one, but there's plenty of scope to make your own mark and grow the business further.

Technical Sales Manager

If your idea of technical sales is picking a product from a catalogue, this probably isn't the role for you.

We're recruiting for an established UK engineering business that designs and manufactures bespoke engineered solutions for industrial and manufacturing customers.

They are looking for an experienced Technical Sales Manager who can understand an application, get under the skin of what the customer actually needs and work with internal technical and design teams to develop the right solution.

You'll inherit an active pipeline of opportunities, but this certainly isn't an account management role.

You'll be expected to develop existing customers, convert current opportunities and create new business of your own.

The Role

You'll manage the complete sales process from initial conversation through to order, including:

  • Developing new and existing manufacturing and industrial customers

  • Taking over and converting an established pipeline

  • Visiting customer sites to understand applications and requirements

  • Turning customer problems into commercially viable technical solutions

  • Working alongside design, engineering and estimating teams

Deal values and sales cycles vary considerably. Some opportunities can move relatively quickly, while larger or more technically involved projects require a more consultative approach.

What We're Looking For

The key is your technical sales background.

You'll need experience selling a bespoke, engineered or application-led solution into manufacturing or industrial customers.

We'd particularly like to hear from people with experience around:

Fabrication | Material Handling | Industrial Equipment | Racking & Storage Systems | Engineered Products | Capital Equipment | Manufacturing Solutions

However, we're more interested in how you sell than an exact product match.

If you're accustomed to visiting a customer, understanding an application and working with technical colleagues to design, cost and sell a solution, your background could fit extremely well.

You'll also need to be commercially sharp and comfortable generating new business rather than simply servicing existing accounts.

The Package

Circa £60,000 basic salary
Excellent OTE
Company car
Hybrid working

You'll typically spend around three days per week at the Midlands office, with the remainder working from home or visiting customers, so you'll need to live within a sensible commuting distance.

This is a great opportunity to join an established engineering business where there is already plenty happening, but still considerable scope to make your own mark.
