Technical Engineer who enjoys getting onto the shop floor and working out why things happen?

We’re recruiting a Technical Engineer for an established specialist manufacturing business.

The focus is very much on the technical side of manufacturing: understanding processes, solving problems, improving performance, supporting production and helping develop better ways of doing things.

There is also a significant quality element, so you’ll gain exposure to audits, customer quality issues, PPAP, APQP and quality systems without this becoming a predominantly paperwork-based Quality Engineer role.

The Role

Working closely with production, engineering, quality, suppliers and customers, you’ll become a key technical point of contact for manufacturing and coating processes.

You’ll be involved in:

  • Providing day-to-day technical support to manufacturing

  • Troubleshooting process and product problems

  • Investigating coating defects and production failures

  • Running technical trials and evaluating results

  • Optimising processes to improve quality, consistency and productivity

  • Establishing and maintaining process parameters and specifications

  • Analysing production data and identifying opportunities for improvement

  • Supporting the introduction of new products, processes and technologies

  • Testing coating performance including thickness, adhesion, appearance and corrosion resistance

  • Working with production teams to turn technical findings into practical improvements

  • Supporting continuous improvement and engineering projects

Alongside this, you’ll gain good exposure to the quality engineering side of the operation, including customer concerns, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, internal audits, PPAP, APQP, FMEAs, Control Plans and quality documentation.

What We’re Looking For

You’ll be a technically minded engineer who enjoys understanding how and why manufacturing processes work.

Ideally, you’ll have experience within areas such as:

  • Metal coatings or surface treatment

  • Industrial coatings or paint

  • Electroplating or anodising

  • Materials or chemical processing

  • Corrosion protection

  • Process manufacturing

  • Surface preparation and finishing

We’d also consider someone from a broader manufacturing or process engineering background who has the technical grounding and curiosity to learn the coatings side.

A Degree, HNC, HND or equivalent in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Engineering or another relevant technical discipline would be ideal.

Some exposure to quality systems, ISO standards, root-cause analysis, PPAP, APQP, FMEA or continuous improvement would be useful, but you do not need to be a career Quality Engineer.

Why Consider It?

This is a good opportunity for someone who wants a role that sits at the crossroads of engineering, manufacturing, materials and quality.

You won’t just be writing reports about problems. You’ll be expected to get involved, understand what is happening, test solutions and help fix them.

You’ll receive up to £42,000, pension, on-site parking, ongoing training and the opportunity to develop further within the technical and engineering function.

If you’re a Technical Engineer, Process Engineer, Materials Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer or technically biased Quality Engineer looking for a varied, hands-on role, we’d like to hear from you.

Coburg Banks Limited is acting as an Employment Agency in relation to this vacancy.

Industrial Paint Sprayer

Can you spray a complete commercial vehicle AND produce a first-class finish on the cab?

We're looking for an experienced Commercial / Industrial Spray Painter to join a specialist engineering business working on a varied range of large equipment, vehicles and components.

This role needs someone who can work at both ends of the scale.

You'll be comfortable spraying large vehicles and heavy equipment, but you'll also have the skill and attention to detail required for highly visible bodywork where the quality of the finish really matters.

The Role

You'll take jobs through the complete refinishing process, including:

  • Preparing, masking, filling and sanding

  • Mixing and matching paints

  • Spraying complete vehicles, large equipment and components

  • Producing high-quality finishes on cabs, panels and visible bodywork

  • Working with gloss, metallic and other specialist finishes

  • Carrying out refurbishment and repainting work

  • Polishing and finishing where required

  • Checking your own work and maintaining consistently high standards

What We're Looking For

You'll need solid professional spray-painting experience and, importantly, the ability to combine large-scale spraying with a high-quality cosmetic finish.

We'd particularly like to hear from people from:

  • Commercial vehicle or HGV refinishing

  • Truck and trailer bodyshops

  • Coach or bus painting

  • Agricultural machinery

  • Construction and plant equipment

  • Specialist vehicle manufacture

  • Automotive or industrial refinishing

You don't need previous experience with our particular equipment.

What matters is that you can look at something the size of a commercial vehicle without being fazed by it, while still having the finesse to produce an excellent finish on the areas everyone notices.

Something Different

This isn't a production-line paint job and you won't be spraying the same thing every day.

You'll work on a varied range of specialist equipment, with responsibility for the quality of the finished job from preparation through to final inspection.

If you're an experienced commercial vehicle or industrial sprayer who takes genuine pride in the finished product, we'd like to hear from you.

Field Service Engineer

If you can fix heavy machinery in a field, forest or construction site, we want to hear from you.

We are recruiting a Field Service Engineer to support a range of specialist heavy machinery and equipment across the North West.

This is a proper hands-on engineering role. You'll be out at customer sites, diagnosing faults, carrying out servicing and repairs and keeping technically advanced machinery doing what it was built to do.

You'll work largely independently, with the backing of an experienced technical and parts team when you need it.

The Role

You'll be responsible for:

  • Servicing, maintaining and repairing specialist mobile machinery

  • Diagnosing mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults

  • Attending breakdowns at customer sites

  • Carrying out planned servicing and preventative maintenance

  • Repairing and setting up hydraulic equipment and attachments

  • Providing customers with practical technical support

  • Managing your own workload across the North West

What We're Looking For

The exact machinery you've worked on isn't critical.

We'd particularly like to hear from engineers with experience of:

  • Agricultural machinery

  • Tractors and farm equipment

  • Forestry machinery

  • Excavators and construction plant

  • Heavy mobile equipment

  • Hydraulic machinery

You'll need to be comfortable fault-finding across mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems and, importantly, be the sort of engineer who enjoys working things out rather than simply swapping parts.

Why This Role?

This isn't maintaining a fleet of identical machines day after day.

You'll be working with an interesting range of specialist, high-quality machinery, dealing with different engineering challenges and customers across the region.

It's a role with plenty of independence, variety and technical interest, backed by a business that understands engineering and takes product support seriously.

Home/field based – North West

Company vehicle and equipment provided

If you're an experienced Agricultural, Plant, Forestry or Heavy Machinery Engineer looking for something a little more specialised, we'd like to hear from you.
