Aircraft Engine Performance Engineer

Gas Turbine Engines | Diagnostics | Performance Analysis

Basingstoke | Aviation Engineering

Are you an experienced aircraft gas turbine engineer who enjoys diagnostics and fault-finding, but fancies using that knowledge in a different way?

This is a specialist engineering role where you'll analyse aircraft engine performance data, identify developing trends and help spot potential engine problems before they become bigger issues.

It's technical, analytical and genuinely interesting work.

What You'll Be Doing

You'll use specialist monitoring systems and your own engineering knowledge to analyse engine performance and investigate anything that doesn't look right.

Day to day, you'll be:

  • Analysing aircraft engine performance and operational data

  • Carrying out Gas Path Analysis (GPA)

  • Monitoring engine trends and investigating anomalies

  • Identifying potential faults and issuing technical alerts

  • Providing technical support to aircraft operators

  • Evaluating and reporting customer engine data

  • Liaising with customers on technical issues

  • Working alongside other engineering, operations and IT specialists

  • Helping ensure a 24/7 engine monitoring service runs effectively

There is also a remote out-of-hours Duty Manager rota, so you'll periodically provide technical support outside normal working hours.

What We're Looking For

The key thing is a strong understanding of aircraft gas turbine engines.

You could come from aircraft maintenance, engine overhaul, technical services, engine performance, diagnostics or a similar aviation engineering environment.

Ideally you'll have:

  • Strong aircraft gas turbine engine knowledge

  • Good diagnostic and fault-finding skills

  • Experience or knowledge of engine trend monitoring

  • A logical, analytical approach

  • Confidence interpreting technical data

  • An Aeronautical Engineering degree, aircraft engineering licence or equivalent practical experience

  • Previous experience carrying significant technical responsibility

Experience with Rolls-Royce, GE, Pratt & Whitney Canada or Honeywell engines would be particularly attractive.

The Opportunity

This could be particularly attractive if you've spent years working hands-on with aircraft engines and want to take that knowledge into a more analytical, technically focused position.

You'll still be diagnosing engine problems, but instead of reaching for the tools, you'll be using data, trends and engineering judgement to work out what's happening.

If you know gas turbine engines and enjoy solving technical problems, we'd like to hear from you.

Service Engineer

Work on the kind of engineering problems that don't get fixed with a quick service call.

We're looking for an experienced Field Service Engineer to support major manufacturing customers across the UK.

This is not a high-volume role driving from job to job completing routine service calls.

You'll work on complex industrial plant (mainly in the aerospace sector) and automated manufacturing systems, often spending several days on site diagnosing faults, carrying out repairs, completing planned maintenance and delivering engineering improvements.

You'll be trusted to use your engineering judgement rather than simply work through a checklist.

The Role

You'll be responsible for:

  • Fault finding and repair of complex industrial equipment
  • Planned and preventative maintenance
  • Mechanical and/or electrical repairs
  • Installation, modification and upgrade work
  • Diagnosing problems and developing practical engineering solutions
  • Working from engineering drawings and technical information
  • Supporting longer-term maintenance and improvement projects

You'll be home based and travel directly to customer sites across the UK, so you can live anywhere in the UK but ideally across the Midlands or Central England.

We're looking for:

✔ Strong Mechanical and/or Electrical engineering experience

✔ Experience working with complex industrial machinery or plant - preferrably within the aeropsace sector

✔ Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills

✔ Comfortable working independently on customer sites

✔ Able to understand engineering drawings and technical information

✔ Happy with regular UK travel and staying away when required

Experience could come from aerospace, automotive, heavy engineering, industrial automation, capital equipment, process plant or manufacturing maintenance.

This isn't a job for a parts changer.

We're looking for a proper engineer who enjoys getting underneath a problem,

Run your own patch selling technical solutions that keep industrial plants running, with uncapped commission on top of a strong basic and a company car.

The role

You'll drive new business across the West of England and Wales for a global corrosion-protection and coatings specialist, selling into power, oil and gas, petrochemical, energy-from-waste and wider heavy industry. It's a consultative, sometimes complex sale to engineers, consultants and procurement, so you'll enjoy the technical detail.

• Win new accounts and grow and protect existing ones across your territory

• Visit sites to give technical and commercial support and turn enquiries into orders

• Promote corrosion protection, protective coatings and re-engineering solutions

• Plan your own diary and keep your pipeline and CRM sharp across a big patch

What you'll need

• A track record in technical, field or B2B sales - winning new business and growing accounts

• Experience selling service-based or engineering solutions (repair and maintenance, industrial coatings or corrosion protection is ideal)

• Credibility with engineers, consultants and procurement, plus strong commercial acumen

• A full UK driving licence, and happy to travel with overnight stays when the patch needs it

Desirable

• Knowledge of coatings, corrosion, valves, pumps, tanks or asset-protection markets

• A network across power, oil and gas, petrochemical or energy-from-waste

What's on offer

• £40,000 - £50,000 basic (depending on experience), plus uncapped OTE and commission

• Fully expensed company car

• Pension and a full benefits package

Engine Trend Analysis Manager

Engine Trend Analysis Manager

Aviation Engineering | Gas Turbine Engines | Technical Analysis

An unusual opportunity for an experienced aircraft gas turbine engineer to move into a specialist technical role focused on engine performance, diagnostics and trend analysis.

Rather than being hands-on with the engine, you'll use operational and performance data to identify developing issues, investigate anomalies and provide customers with early warning of potential engine problems.

If you understand gas turbine engines, enjoy fault-finding and have a naturally analytical brain, this could be a very interesting next step.

The Role

You'll be responsible for monitoring and analysing aircraft engine performance data, using specialist systems to identify trends and potential technical issues.

You'll also:

  • Carry out Gas Path Analysis and engine trend monitoring

  • Evaluate engine performance data and investigate anomalies

  • Identify potential problems and issue technical alerts where required

  • Provide technical support to aircraft operators and internal teams

  • Manage the processing, evaluation and reporting of customer data

  • Liaise with customers on technical and operational issues

  • Support and supervise the day-to-day monitoring service

  • Work closely with other engineering, operations and IT specialists

You'll also periodically act as Duty Manager, providing remote out-of-hours technical support as part of a rota for a service operating 24/7.

What We're Looking For

You'll need a strong background in aircraft gas turbine engineering, ideally backed by an Aeronautical Engineering degree, aircraft engineering licence or equivalent practical experience.

We're particularly interested in people with:

  • Aircraft gas turbine engine experience

  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills

  • Engine performance or trend monitoring knowledge

  • An analytical and logical approach

  • Good IT skills and confidence working with technical data

  • Experience in a position carrying meaningful technical responsibility

  • The flexibility to participate in an out-of-hours support rota

Experience with Honeywell, Pratt & Whitney Canada, GE or Rolls-Royce engines would be particularly useful.

Why Consider It?

This is a chance to use your aircraft engine knowledge in a very different way.

You'll move away from purely hands-on maintenance and into a specialist role where your understanding of engine behaviour can help identify problems before they become serious operational issues.

If you're an experienced aviation engineer who enjoys diagnostics, data and figuring out why an engine is behaving the way it is, we'd like to hear from you.
